Job Description: Oversee the daily physical operations of the Seton Hill University Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band.

Marching Band Duties and responsibilities include:

Design/coordinate fall marching show.
Conduct and oversee all music and drill rehearsals during band camp
Conduct and oversee all Marching Band rehearsals during Fall semester
Oversee instrument and uniform inventory
Attend and conduct all Marching Band activities, including home football games (6), band festivals and civic parades
Work in cooperation with the SHU Athletic Director to coordinate halftime performances and activities.
Participate in 3-5 recruiting activities which promote SHU enrollment and feature the benefits of SHU marching band participation to prospective students and/or music teachers. Examples may include: clinics with H.S. Marching bands, festival performances, conference presentations, and other direct contact with music teachers and/or high school music students.

Pep Band Duties and responsibilities include:

Organize Pep Band music
Conduct and oversee all music rehearsals.
Oversee instrument and uniform inventory
Attend and conduct all Pep Band activities, including home basketball games (6)
Work in cooperation with the SHU Athletic Director to coordinate performances and activities.

Marching Band Dates:

End date: November 20, 2024

Start date: December 1, 2024

Assistant Professor of Art Therapy

Seton Hill University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Art Therapy, beginning in August 2024.   POSITION: Full-time faculty, on a 10-month basis, to teach in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling degree program and the Undergraduate Art Therapy major. The position is a tenure-track position and applicants are expected to demonstrate the capacity to engage in scholarship towards tenure.

DEPARTMENT: School of Visual and Performing Arts   

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching 8 art therapy courses annually at the graduate and undergraduate levels; providing academic advising and coordinating field placements for undergraduate art therapy students; working collaboratively with the Art Therapy faculty to assure the Masters of Art in Art Therapy degree and also the undergraduate art therapy major are kept current, teaching practice is sound and contemporary, and the graduate program meets all requirements for programmatic accreditation. Also assists with marketing, recruitment, and enrollment of students; serves on university committees.   

BACKGROUND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION: Applicant must have at minimum a master’s in Art Therapy or related mental health field, with a doctorate preferred; be registered and Board Certified (ATR-BC); be licensed or license-eligible as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; experience teaching and supervising at the graduate level and undergraduate level; experience as a clinician required. Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience in trauma recovery approaches to care, as well as community-based approaches. Seeking applicants with demonstrated commitment to art therapy’s role in the fostering of diversity, equity, and inclusivity as it relates to anti-oppressive mental health care, anti-racism, and cultural humility.

Assistant Professor of Computer Science/Cybersecurity

Seton Hill University, a Catholic liberal arts institution located in Greensburg Pennsylvania, seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Computer Science/Cybersecurity position. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in computer science, cybersecurity and network design. The ability to teach courses in the MBA and the MS in Information Technology Management programs is preferred.

The position is part of the Department of Computer Science within the School of Business and provides a unique opportunity to be part of a closely knit family of educators who following the teachings of Elizabeth Ann Seton, inspires students “to think and act critically, creatively, and ethically as productive members of society committed to transforming the world.”

The successful candidate must also demonstrate the ability to teach online, face to face and in the hybrid format. The normal teaching load is 24 credit hours (8 courses) per year. In addition to teaching, the successful faculty member will be expected to advise students, undertake scholarly research, and provide school, university, and community service.

Degrees and Experience:

Ph.D. in Computer Science/Cybersecurity is preferred, ABD and Masters degree holders will be considered; college-level teaching experience is preferred.

Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

The School of Natural and Health Sciences at Seton Hill University currently invites applications for an assistant professor of exercise science. This position is a full-time, 10-month faculty appointment that will begin in August 2024. The Department of Exercise Science is seeking an individual to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities in accordance with the University and Department policies and procedures, and CoAES standards. The undergraduate exercise science program leads to entry level careers in exercise and sport science, as well as supports entry into various graduate programs following graduation. The program prioritizes experiential learning through active learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Primary duties are to teach courses at the undergraduate level and provide quality academic advising within a CAAHEP (CoAES) accredited undergraduate exercise science program, pursue scholarly activity and professional development, and participate in service to the program and university. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of exercise science courses, such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Evidence Based Practice, and Exercise Leadership.

Position requirements include:

Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field; ABD will be considered with completion date within 1 year of hiring
Professional-level certification(s), such as ACSM EP, CEP or NSCA-CSCS, or the ability to obtain such certification(s) upon hire
Ability to teach an undergraduate population from a diversity of backgrounds
Passion for mentoring students through professional development
Ability to engage in scholarly activity
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preference will be given to candidates with cardiopulmonary expertise. The ability to engage in interdisciplinary research with students and faculty from various other disciplines is also highly valued. Additional considerations include advancing the mission and values of a Catholic university.

Assistant/Associate Professor Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

Seton Hill University Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics invites applications for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Candidates must possess a dental degree DMD/DDS; must have completed post-graduate education in orthodontics from an ADA CODA graduate program, and must have, or be eligible for a dental license in the State of Pennsylvania before hired. Pennsylvania does not offer a restricted temporary faculty license for our program. ABO certification, master’s degree, and experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice are desirable. Responsibilities are mainly teaching (didactic and clinical supervision of residents), but may also include research, administrative duties, and service. All duties are at the graduate level since there is no pre-doctoral program. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and credentials. Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Seton Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Philosophy, housed in the School of Humanities and linked to programs in Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theology. Appointment is to begin in August 2024.

The faculty member will teach a range of courses in undergraduate Philosophy within a Continental framework. Seton Hill University offers a minor in Philosophy, and all students are required to study Philosophy as part of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Willingness to teach across the Liberal Arts Curriculum required.

Qualifications:

Requirements include an earned doctorate in education, three years K-12 special education teaching experience, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Use of technology to enhance teaching is required. The ideal candidate has expertise in special education instructional methodologies, including universal design for learning approaches for individuals with mild to moderate and/or moderate to severe/profound disabilities and writing an IEP. Expertise in instructional methodology, knowledge of or experience in working with English-language learners, knowledge of or experience with Middle States or similar accreditation, ability to do graduate program coordination and experience with quality online delivery systems is preferred.

The Community Music Program at Seton Hill University is hiring qualified instructors to teach private music lessons in violin, cello, piano and voice.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Community Music Program is designed to develop the musicianship of children and adults in the local area. The faculty, staff and facilities of Seton Hill University provide a comprehensive program for students wishing to advance their musical training and performance through quality musical instruction.

Students who are just beginning or those who have studied for many years can benefit from the knowledge and experience of a professional faculty member. The focus of our program is serious and thorough study, as well as personal growth through music. Instructors maintain their own schedule and lessons are held at the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center in Downtown Greensburg.

BACKGROUND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in music education or performance preferred. (Extensive performance or teaching experience also considered). Strong time-management and communication skills. Advanced performance skills on major instrument.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching weekly one-on-one private music lessons to develop the student’s instrumental technique, performance ability, and basic skills including but not limited to scales and chords, proper fingerings and posture, and learning appropriate literature for the student’s age and ability. Instructors will be responsible for communicating schedules with student or student’s parent/guardian on a regular basis, documenting lesson dates and times, entering time into the payroll software, requesting teaching space through the appropriate method, encouraging and preparing students to perform in fall and spring recitals, and providing feedback and periodic evaluations to the student on their progress. Students who request to begin lessons are assigned by the Director in a fair and balanced manner with consideration given to the student's goals, needs, and availability.

Program Director, Physical Therapy Doctoral Program

Seton Hill University invites applications for the position of Program Director for the Doctoral program in Physical Therapy. Start date is negotiable but no later than August 1, 2024. The Physical Therapy Program sits in the School of Natural and Health Sciences. The Program Director reports to the school Dean.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters.
Lead the faculty in strategic planning and monitor the process to further the program's mission in teaching, research, service, and patient care.
Supervise the process of maintaining CAPTE program accreditation.
Ensure that the Physical Therapy faculty is involved with research and scholarly activity.
Ensure that the Physical Therapy facility continues to meet the educational and functional needs of the faculty, students, and staff.
Promotes the program and enhancing its visibility, assisting with recruiting and retaining students, and managing the day-to-day logistics of the program. The Program Director is responsible for the continuous evaluation of faculty.

Qualifications:

The position is a full-time, 12-month position. The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
An academic terminal degree in Physical Therapy or related field (i.e., PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
A license to practice physical therapy in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain)
Experience preparing for, obtaining and maintaining CAPTE accreditation
Administrative experience (including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting)
A record of scholarship and history of teaching and service
6 years of full-time higher education experience and a minimum of 3 years full-time experience in a physical therapist education program
