I hold a PhD in Comparative Literature and graduate certificates in Women's and Gender Studies and Translation Studies from the University of Oregon. Before joining the Seton Hill faculty in 2019, I taught courses in world literature and cinema, gender and diversity studies, and modern foreign languages at both the University of Oregon and at Johns Hopkins University. I was born and raised in Germany, and completed an M.A. in foreign language teaching and intercultural education before relocating to the US. My research focuses on the intersection between ecocritical themes and identity studies within modern German, Anglophone, and Francophone literature and thought. I also have interests in the digital humanities and am conducting research in foreign language and literature pedagogy.
